10:57 am - Vampyres at Kensal Green Cemetery Open Day - This Saturday 4th July - Dead and Buried that night too

The London Vampyre Group will be at the Kensal Green Cemetery Open Day Saturday 4th July
Dress in your Victorian mourning clothes (optional!) and come along and join the LVG at the Cemetery Open Day.
I know many of you will be there earlier in the day, however it would be good to meet up with fellow LVG members and maybe welcome some new faces. The plan is to meet at the main entrance to the cemetery at 2pm - The Main Gate, is to the east near the junction with Ladbroke Grove and has the cemetery offices there. http://www.kensalgreen.co.
We will then wander at our leisure around the cemetery; maybe taking in a tour of the cemetery and catacombs. If you plan to go on a tour, it is worth getting to the cemetery earlier to book tickets, as they can book up.
The Kensal Green annual Open Day is from 11.00 to 17.00.
Principal events typically include:
Cemetery tours with a general introduction to Kensal Green
Catacomb tours of the vaults beneath the Anglican Chapel
Specialist tours including The Great and the Good, and Ne'er-Do-Wells
Friends' bookstall at the Anglican Chapel
Children's face painting and dress-up with costumes for Victorian Mutes and Mourners
Display and motorcade of classic hearses from the Classic Hearse Register
Displays and stalls from other cemetery societies, local history groups and specialists in items and services of particular interest to the Friends of historical cemeteries, including jewellery, photographs, and original and reproduction Victorian mourning dress
Tour tickets are sold on the day at the booth on the porch of the Anglican Chapel; early booking is strongly advised as tours usually sell out by early afternoon. Cemetery tours cost three pounds per head, start at the steps of the Anglican Chapel, and last about an hour; catacomb tours cost two pounds per head, start at the door of the Anglican Chapel, and last about thirty minutes. Tours keep to the main paths, but sensible shoes -- and protection from sun or rain as the day demands -- are advisable. Please note that cemetery tours are suitable for all ages, but children under the age of 12 are not allowed in the catacomb.
Also stalls from a couple of creatives from the London goth crowd - Enlyl's Etsy and Veil of Visions
Also Dead and Buried Club in the evening, I'll be on the door there.

04:59 pm - New Webseries: The Mercury Men
Picked up from
archeon
Can't actually find a launch date for it though. Looks like the trailer teaser is the only thing to be seen so far, check the linky below.
'The Mercury Men marks a modern return of the classic cliffhanger serials. “The web video format seemed the perfect opportunity to reintroduce the old serial style of storytelling,” says writer/director Christopher Preksta. “Not as an homage with cheesy dialogue, corny characters, and bad special effects, but as a modern story with the great suspense, danger, and mystery the serials were known for at the time. With the short form of digital media, movies are simply coming back to their roots.”
The new web series, written and directed by Christopher Preksta (Captain Blasto), starring Mark Tierno (George Romero’s Day of the Dead, The Road, Captain Blasto) and Curt Wootton (Captain Blasto), premieres this fall on mercuryseries.com and iTunes.'

01:08 pm - Attn: Fops, Dandies & Steampunks!
New Ivory wing-collar shirts for less than a tenner! I just got mine so I cant comment on the service but the ebay feedback is favourable!
Just making sure I have the shirts for the Asylum Steampunk weekend in September - if you've not seen the details for this, and like your things Steamy then this would be of interest....and you can never have enough dress shirts in my never humble at all opinion!

01:42 pm - Good Thursday, Good Friday, Happy Easter...
Easter Already! When we remember Jesus' meeting with the Easter Bunny by taking communion of chocolate and watching films with Charlton Heston wearing sandals! (You know the one, they all claim to be Ben Hur at the end and all get crucified...it's very uplifting)
Tonight LVG 80's Quiz if you're not on a team for the quiz you may still want to come for the social afterwards.
Tmorrow it's Departure Launch Night, many good reasons to go along to this - not least becuase of the DJ's
fenbane ,
propaganda_tv and
djpsyche but also because it's free and on Good Friday.
'A brand new night based in Camden, London. Playing electronic music accompanied by videos/visuals. Genres include Synthpop, New Wave, Dark Wave, Industrial and EBM. Based at the Elixir bar located near Koko, between Mornington Crescent and Euston stations.
The night starts at 8pm and runs until 1am. The venue has wide range of drinks including cocktails and food will be available until 10pm. The night will start off with a chilled out vibe, gradually working up towards a club atmosphere. Perfect for warming up for the weekend.'

01:33 pm - Covenant and Mesh
You know sometimes you can look forward to a gig a bit too much, you have a high expectation and sometimes the bands cant quite deliver...well last night was not like that at all!
It was a great double headliner and, I mentioned earlier, two songs that I would request from the bands and both were played! So that was me one happy bouncing bunny. Lots of friends and friendly faces about and everyone having a good time of it. So a big thumbs up for both acts but, if anything, I'd say Mesh gave a more spirited performance although Covenant were playing for the fans too - even a choice of encore! (but as all three choices got big cheers I think they could just play what they wanted anyway)...all in all £18 well spent!

Remember the 80's - When Pop Music was Good and clothing, conversely, bad! We'll lets focus on the good bit and try to forget the other.
